Tata Harrier has been a hit for the company ever since it was launched in the Indian market early this year. The fresh presence in the market has enabled the SUV to race to the top positions in the sales charts for April and it has left established names such as Mahindra XUV500 and the Jeep Compass in the segment behind to claim the crown. However, the recent advent of MG Hector and Kia Seltos has but a pit of damper on the success of the Harrier in the market. Along with the futuristic design of the SUV, Tata Harrier also has a plethora of features that attract customers to the car.
A major thing that has been missing so far in the vast package that Harrier offers is the presence of a sunroof in the SUV. Indian customers seem to love the presence of a sunroof in cars and they just can’t get enough of it. The presence of a sunroof in the futuristically designed and feature loaded Harrier would have been an icing on the cake for prospective customers of the SUV. Well, it seems like the brand has heard the customer feedback and has made a sunroof for Harrier available as an official accessory for the Harrier. Listed as a Tata Motors Genuine Accessory, the sunroof has been priced at Rs 95,100 plus installation charges for the Harrier. Although installing a sunroof on the Harrier will result in an additional load of over Rs. 1 lakh on the customer’s pocket, it comes across as an extra option for those who wanted to have a sunroof in their Harrier and are ready to pay the price.
The sunroof that the brand is offering for the Harrier is made by Webasto and has the model name H-300. This is an electric sunroof and will come with a two year warranty. Since this accessory is being offered by the company itself, one need not worry about the warranty issues and structural integrity issues of the SUV. The sunroof from the company comes with a tinted protective Venus glass that deflects the UV radiation and sun rays regardless of the amount of incoming light.
Talking about the engine of the Tata Harrier, the new SUV comes only in a diesel variant with the customers getting a Fiat-sourced 2L MultiJet diesel engine under the hood. Renamed as KRYOTEC by Tata, the engine is rated for 140 PS and 350 Nm. The engine on Tata SUV currently comes equipped only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 6-speed torque converter unit sourced from Hyundai will be offered sometime this year as well.
