The immensely popular SUV from the Indian automaker has achieved a sales figure of more than 1,200 units for June 2019.

Although Harrier may face renewed competition in the market with the launch of MG Hector and the upcoming Kia Seltos, the latest SUV from Tata has once again emerged at the top of the sales charts, at least for the month of June. The immensely popular SUV from the Indian automaker has achieved a sales figure of more than 1,200 units for June 2019. This figure leaves present rivals of the SUV like the Mahindra XUV500 and Jeep Compass far behind.

The sales numbers that Harrier has managed to pull off for the month of June comes during a time when the industry is going through an overall slowdown in sales, hence the achievement of the Harrier is all the more remarkable. Talking straight numbers, the sales for Tata Harrier for month of June stood at 1,216 units while Mahindra could only manage to sell 1,129 units of the XUV500 and Jeep remained a distant third with the sales total of Compass for June standing at 791 units.

There are many reasons behind the success of the Tata Harrier in the market, and the top among them is pricing. With the Harrier, the Indian maker managed to nail the pricing accurately. Not that the base variant of the car is bare bones as the base XE variant of Tata Harrier is loaded with features like projector headlamps, dual-function daytime running lamps, door mirror-mounted logo projector, electronic ORVMs, rear parking sensors, dual airbags, ABS and EBD.

Moving on to design of the Harrier, the new design philosophy of the brand sure is a great head turner. With the IMPACT 2.0 design language, Tata Harrier has a very futuristic design that manages to turn all the heads on the road. The good looks of the exterior of Tata Harrier are complemented by the interiors as well. The increased dimensions of the Harrier mean that the car is very spacious from inside. Not to mention that the cabin of the Harrier is also very well appointed and comes loaded with features.

Talking about the engine of the Tata Harrier, the new SUV comes only in a diesel variant with the customers getting a Fiat-sourced 2L MultiJet diesel engine under the hood. Renamed as KRYOTEC by Tata, the engine is rated for 140 PS and 350 Nm. The engine on Tata SUV currently comes equipped only with a 6-speed manual gearbox. A 6-speed torque converter unit sourced from Hyundai will be offered sometime this year as well. Tata is also expected to bring out a 7-seater version of the Harrier by the name of Cassini in the Indian market in the coming months. The coming months will also see the rivalry in the compact SUV segment heat up as recently launched MG Hector has managed to pull 10,000 bookings in mere 23 days. Then the Kia Seltos is also scheduled to be launched in August, which will mean even more rivalry in the compact SUV segment.
