Tata Harrier is the most advanced SUV from the stable of Tata Motors. Jaguar Land Rover has provided their extensive input to develop this vehicle.

Tata Motors took over the luxury off-road leader of the world, Land Rover in 2008. Since then we Indian auto enthusiasts are waiting for the car which has Jaguar Land Rover’s technology with Tata badge on it. This Tata car which was developed in close association with Land Rover was codenamed H5X. This concept named Tata H5X was first showcased at 2018 Auto Expo and recently, the H5X concept got its name as Tata Harrier.

Tata Motors with Harrier has built the most advanced SUV of the company. It is based on the Land Rover D8 platform. This D8 platform of Land Rover uses a new IMPACT Design 2.0 language and Tata has named this monocoque platform as OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture).

The driving dynamics of the Harrier for both on and off-road terrain has been improved by optimising the torsional and bending stiffness of the chassis. The Harrier will be extensively made from high strength steel. The car uses auxiliary panels to keep the NVH level low. The crumple zones are integrated into the chassis for better safety. Global SUVs like Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque are made on this D8 platform.

The production model of Tata Harrier will carry 80 percent of the H5X's exterior design. The Harrier is expected to be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine. The transmission mated to the engine will be both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission. Launch is officially confirmed for early 2019.
