Design:
The car follows the carmaker's IMPACT 2.0 language making the Harrier the first production car to do so. The design has remained close to the Tata H5X concept as it was promised the company’s design head. The new model is distinctively appealing with its front multi-level light setup with the DRL’s at the hood level and a Tri-Arrow pattern. Engine & Transmission:
The Tata Harrier sports a 2.0-liter Multijet II turbocharged diesel engine that puts out 140bhp of power and an impressive 350Nm of torque. The engine has been manufactured by Fiat India that uses common rail direct injection, and a variable-geometry turbocharger. The engine is mated to a 6- speed manual gearbox that powers the front wheels. One can expect a petrol variant in the near future that will be equipped with an automatic gearbox sourced from the Hyundai.
Tata Harrier mileage comes out at 17km per litre which is quite good given the amount of power and torque that SUV has.
Safety Features:
The Harrier is based on a chassis that is derived from the Land Rover D8 also called as ‘Omega Arc ‘that offers better driving dynamics and torsional rigidity as compared to old platforms. The base model of the SUV is XE which is priced at Rs. 12.69 Lakhs. The other variant which is one step up is the XM variant that is priced at 13.75 Lakhs while the XT is priced at Rs 14.95 Lakhs. The top variant that is XZ variant is priced at Rs. 16.25 Lakhs that has all the attractive features. Tata Harrier on road price starts from 13 Lakhs for the XE model and goes up to 16.56 Lakhs for Tata Harrier XZ.
The SUV undercuts most of its competition which includes the 1.6-litre diesel Hyundai Creta (Rs 13.58-15.63 Lakhs ) and the diesel Jeep Compass (Rs 16.54-21.07 Lakhs ). However, Mahindra XUV500 is priced in the range of Rs. 12.65-17.11 Lakhs which is slightly more expensive.
Interior Design and Features:
The Tata Harrier SUV has just not got only impressive interiors but also equally impressive exteriors also. The SUV gets substantial leather interiors including on the seats and door panels. The leathers give the feel of a luxurious SUV from the inside. The SUV comes with a 7-inch TFT semi- instrument cluster with an analog speedometer console. The top- spec model has an 8.8-inch touchscreen infotainment screen that has inbuilt navigation and Apple car play.
