The new Tata Xpres-T EV is the rebadged version of Tata Tigor EV

Tata Motors has recently announced the launch of a new brand ‘Xpres’, exclusively for the fleet customers in the country. Under the Xpres brand, the homegrown automaker will be launching an electric sedan called the ‘Xpres-T’ EV anytime soon. The electric sedan is basically the rebadged version of Tata Tigor EV that we have spotted doing test runs on multiple occasions in the past. Tata has officially released the first set of images of the electric sedan. Bookings for the same will commence soon. The Xpres-T EV will come with subtle styling updates. It will be sold in two trims namely XM+ and XT+.

Talking about the XM variant, it comes equipped with dual airbags, LED tail-lamps, 14-inch steel wheels, rear parking sensors, auto climate control, ABS, power windows, a Harman-sourced audio system with Bluetooth connectivity, and Eco & Sport drive modes. The top-end XT+ trim packs in electric adjustable wing mirrors, 14-inch alloy wheels, and remote locking besides other standard features. Instead of the traditional RPM gauge, the vehicle gets the ‘state of charge’ meter. The entry-level XE trim has been discontinued. Cosmetically, the electric sedan gets blue highlights and an enclosed grille with the tri-arrow pattern. In addition, it features a charging socket located in the grille.

We are delighted to launch the Xpres brand which will introduce smarter, future-ready mobility solutions to cater the special needs of all fleet customers – government, corporates, and mobility services. Electric Vehicles deliver very low cost of ownership, with minimal maintenance, at the same time offer a very comfortable and pleasant drive. This makes them an ideal choice for intra-city mobility services. Tata Motors remains deeply committed to support the Government’s emphasis on green mobility. Currently, we have over 1,700 electric sedans successfully operating in the fleet segment. The launch of our forthcoming ‘XPRES-T’ EV Sedan, will create a new benchmark for urban shared mobility and will include a comprehensive captive charging solution provided by our partner, Tata Power. This will enable higher utilisation and increased income for our fleet customers,” as commented by Shailesh Chandra, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors.

Performance-wise, the Xpres-T EV will come with two battery pack options -  a 16.5kWh pack in the standard and 21.5kWh in the extended range model. Both battery options will power a 70V three-phase induction motor. The motor will further generate 40 bhp power and 105 Nm torque. The smaller battery pack will return a maximum range of 165 km (ARAI certified) on a single charge. While the larger unit will return a range of 213 km (ARAI Certified) on a single charge.

Tata will be providing a standard AC charger that will charge the smaller battery in eight hours. While the larger unit will take 11.5 hours to fully charge. In case the buyers use a 15 kW fast charger, they can charge the vehicle from 0-80% in 90 minutes and 110 minutes respectively.
