Tata Nexon EV To Make Its Global Debut In India on December 17

Tata Motors is ready to launch its first electric SUV in the Indian car market. The homegrown car maker will unveil the car on December 17, 2019.

Tata Motors is ready to launch its first electric SUV in the Indian car market. The homegrown carmaker will unveil the car on December 17, 2019. Although, the SUV is not the first electric car as the manufacturer has launched the electric variant of Tigor. While the launch will happen in December, the SUV will be seen on roads only next year.

The Nexon EV will be the first electric car that will be powered by the company's latest Ziptron electric powertrain technology that will give an estimated driving range of 250 to 300 km on a single charge.

The powertrain will use a liquid-cooled  Lithium-Ion battery, which is IP67 certified for water and dust resistance. The Ziptron powertrain has the Battery Management System (BMS) that extends the battery life up to 8 years! The powertrain also has a cooling circuit that will help the car to perform better under hot weather conditions.

Tata Motors will provide an 8-years warranty on the battery. The electric motor will be permanent magnet AC motor that has regenerative braking which will eventually charge the battery while the car is in motion. The Nexon EV will have the looks and design language of the new Nexon SUV.

The electric SUV will basically a facelift of the Nexon SUV although none of the test mules have been spotted with the new face.

The facelift features include a new bonnet and front bumper design, new fog lamp clusters, slimmer grille and new headlight units with DRLs.
