Tata Nexon EV Caught on Camera

Tata Motors will launch the facelifted Nexon in the Indian market in 2020. Soon after the launch of the new version, Tata will launch the electric version of the car. It should be noted that the Indian government is pushing for the popularity of the electric vehicles in the Indian market and has even waived the registration charges. Tata announced that they will launch four electric cars for the mass segment customers and the Tata Nexon EV will be one of them. Tata has already confirmed the launch of the Nexon EV in 2020.

Tata Motors started the trial production of the Nexon EV earlier this year and as per reports, three units of the Nexon EV have been produced till now. Since it is based on the regular Nexon, the engine bay, which houses all the essentials of the car and is the powerhouse of a regular vehicle has been cleared up and new components have been installed.

The two images show that junction box of the Tata Nexon EV, which is one of the main components of the electric vehicles. The junction box works by connecting and disconnecting the power supply of the vehicle to the battery allowing the vehicle to charge or discharge. It should be noted that the Tata Nexon EV will be the first sub-4m compact SUV EV from the brand and there will be a few launches in the segment from the competition too. Mahindra and Mahindra, another major player in the EV market in India have already announced that they working on the all-new XUV300 EV, which is expected to be showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The details of the powertrain of the Nexon EV are not known yet. However, it is likely to be powered by a battery pack that will offer a range of around 250-300 km. Also, it will get a quick-charging unit that will allow the users to quickly charge their vehicles to up 80 per cent in about an hour or so. The same powertrain is expected to power the Tata Altroz EV, which will be launched at a later date in the Indian market.

There are be a slew of electric vehicles that are headed to the Indian market in the coming times. Apart from the XUV300 EV, Mahindra will also launch an electrified version of the KUV100. It should be noted that MG Motors, which recently launched the Hector in the Indian market will launch the all-new eZS, which will be a compact electric SUV in early 2020. Hyundai launched the all-new Kona EV in the Indian market earlier this year and is investing Rs 2,000 crore to develop a high-range electric vehicle for the Indian market.
