Tata Motors has introduced five new automated manual transmission (AMT) variants of the Nexon compact SUV. The new AMT models are added to the standard petrol and diesel variants of the new-generation Nexon. In the SUV’s petrol range, the Nexon Pure, Smart+, and Pure S versions have now received the latest automated manual transmission (AMT). On the other hand, in the diesel lineup, the Nexon Pure S and Pure variants get the AMT gearbox. After the expansion, the Nexon range comprises 96 variants, providing customers with a wide range of engine and variant options.

The base Nexon Smart+ comes equipped with features like a 7-inch touchscreen along with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility, LED DRLs, four speakers, drive modes, electrically adjustable ORVMs, ESC and ISOFIX child seat mounts, and six airbags. The Pure variant, on the other hand, packs updated features like roof rails, touch-based HVAC controls, LED headlamps and tail lamps, rear AC vents, wheel covers, a 4-inch digital instrument cluster, a knitted roof liner, and voice commands. The Pure S houses auto headlamps, a sunroof, wipers, and electrochromic IRVM.

Under the hood, the Nexon remains unchanged, and it comes with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Nexon AMT is powered by a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that churns out 120 hp of power and a peak torque of 170 Nm. Buyers can select from four transmission choices: 6-speed manual, 5-speed manual, 6-speed AMT, and 6-speed twin-clutch AT with paddle shifters. The diesel trim comes equipped with a 1.5-litre engine that can churn out 115 hp of power and 260 Nm of peak torque. The unit is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
Tata Motors recently launched the Nexon Dark edition at a starting price of INR 11.45 lakh (ex-showroom). The auto giant is also working on a CNG version of the Nexon compact SUV. The new SUV will feature Tata’s twin-cylinder technology. In the compact SUV segment, the current-generation Tata Nexon continues to rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Mahindra XUV300, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger, Maruti Suzuki Fronx, and Nissan Magnite.
