Tata Nexon is one of the best selling subcompact SUVs in the Indian market. It has helped Tata Motors gain considerable market share in the highly lucrative subcompact SUV segment in India. Tata Nexon facelift was launched in January 2020 and came with a host of new features alongside the new BS6 compliant engines. Later in the year, the Indian automaker introduced a new bi-arrow front grille design in Nexon’s six variants namely XZ+, XZA+, XZ+(S), XZA+(S), XZ+(O) and XZA+(O). Currently, Tata Nexon price starts from Rs 7.09 Lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
Now, spied images of Tata Nexon with an all-new roof design has surfaced online. Thanks to our friends at Team-BHP, we can confirm that Tata Motors is bringing back the old roof rail design. With the revised roof rail design, Tata Motors aims to give tough competition to rivals like Kia Sonet, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger, Maruti Vitara Brezza and Hyundai Venue in the Indian market.
Going by the images, one can clearly see that the spotted model is Tata Nexon facelift. In the older Nexon, the roof rails don’t go all the way to the top of the A-pillars. This is a stark contrast to the Nexon facelift where the manufacturer implemented a floating roof layout style with new tri-arrow side body cladding. The decision to go back to the older roof rail design could be attributed to the manufacturer finding design flaws. Also, this underlines the brand’s commitment to keep on refreshing the popular model in the Indian market.
Tata Nexon facelift is offered with two engine options namely a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol unit and a 1.5-litre diesel motor. The former delivers 118 bhp of maximum power output and 170Nm of peak torque performance while the latter produces 108 bhp of top power and 260Nm of highest torque. Transmission options are 6-speed manual and 6-speed AMT units.
