The Range Rover Velar has received an impressive facelift, showcasing a host of design and feature updates that elevate its allure and performance. Notably, the front end now flaunts Land Rover's cutting-edge pixel LED highlights, complemented by a refreshed daytime running lamp signature. Although the side profile retains its essence, the facelift introduces a redesigned rear bumper and alluring tail-lights, adding a touch of modernity to this iconic SUV.
Inside the cabin, a redesigned dashboard brings the Velar in line with its prestigious Range Rover and Range Rover Sport counterparts. The star attraction is the brand-new 11.4-inch touchscreen, which integrates Land Rover's advanced Pivi Pro system, featuring seamless wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. In a remarkable shift, the terrain response system, previously accessed through a centre console dial, now finds its home on the responsive touchscreen.
A Clean and Tech-Savvy Console The centre console undergoes a significant transformation, boasting a cleaner design with fewer buttons. Notably, the secondary screen and dials for HVAC controls have made way for a new stowage space, ingeniously housing a wireless charger. Additionally, the rotary drive selector has been revamped to offer a more conventional and user-friendly experience.
Impressive Powertrains for Thrilling Rides Beneath the bonnet, the Velar facelift packs a punch with its formidable powertrains. Two options are available: a 250hp, 365Nm 2.0-litre petrol engine and a 204hp, 430Nm 2.0-litre diesel engine, both incorporating a mild-hybrid system, expertly paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. These powertrains deliver exhilarating performance, with the petrol variant claiming a top speed of 217kph and a 0-100kph acceleration in 7.5 seconds (claimed), while the diesel version achieves a top speed of 210kph and sprints from 0 to 100kph in 8.3 seconds (claimed).
Enhanced Capabilities and Elegant Arrival The Velar facelift's capabilities extend beyond the road, with an impressive water-wading depth of 580mm. Additionally, the SUV is equipped with an air suspension featuring an "Elegant Arrival" mode, gracefully reducing the ride height by 40mm during entry and exit.
Rivals and Sales Performance In the competitive realm of luxury SUVs, the Range Rover Velar facelift takes on worthy adversaries like the Porsche Macan and Jaguar F-Pace. Despite its premium offerings, the Velar facelift positions itself as a higher-priced option in comparison to its rivals.
Furthermore, Jaguar Land Rover celebrates impressive sales figures, recording a remarkable year-on-year growth of 102 percent in the first quarter of the financial year 2024. Among its current order book, the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, and Defender emerge as popular choices, constituting 78 percent of sales. Additionally, the pre-owned cars division demonstrates impressive growth, recording a year-on-year surge of 137 percent.
