Toyota has already been retailing two Maruti Suzuki vehicles as Glanza and Urban Cruiser in India

Toyota has been retailing two Maruti Suzuki vehicles namely Glanza and Urban Cruiser in the Indian market, which are cross badged Baleno and Vitara Brezza. Now, it has come to our knowledge that a Maruti Ertiga with Toyota badging is in offing. Our good friends at GaadiWaadi have revealed that Toyota Ertiga could be launched as early as August this year. In addition, Japanese automaker is also likely to source the Ciaz from Maruti Suzuki and sell it under the Toyota badge while discontinuing the Yaris sedan in India.

The Toyota badged Ertiga would come with subtle cosmetic updates as the other cross badged models like Glanza and Urban Cruiser. The prominent changes upfront would be Toyota badging in place of Maruti Suzuki logo. There will also be a newly designed front grille. The side profile and rear end are expected to be carried over from the Ertiga. It will carry a new name while positioned below the Innova Crysta in the brand's vehicle portfolio in the country. As far as the interior cabin is concerned, it will be retained with almost identical upholstery and features. The safety features in Ertiga with Toyota badging, in all likelihood, will be the same as well. It would be the third Maruti product to be rebadged by Toyota.

Under the bonnet, Toyota Ertiga would have the same 1.5L 4-cylinder K15B petrol engine with mild-hybrid technology. This engine develops a top power of 103bhp and peak torque of 138Nm with Maruti Ertiga while paired to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and a 4-speed torque converter automatic gearbox as optional. Maruti Ertiga price starts at Rs 7.70 Lakhs and goes as high as Rs 10.50 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom) for the range-topping variant. Toyota will aim for a similar pricing or even lower while offering limited variants as compared to Maruti. The Japanese brand might offer an attractive engine warranty as standard to tempt buyers as it did previously with Glanza and Urban Cruiser.
