Toyota Kirloskar Motor has introduced a new variant of its famous Fortuner SUV in India. The new variant is named the Fortuner Leader Edition. Interested customers can reserve the new Leader Edition via Toyota's official website or authorized dealerships across India. However, the brand has not yet announced the price of the new variant. The car gets unique styling elements and updated features, setting it apart from the standard model.

The Toyota Fortuner Leader edition rolls on 18-inch black alloy wheels. The variant comes equipped with front and back spoilers. The car features a twin-tone exterior paint scheme in black, clarity, and white. The company’s authorized dealers will install some accessories, such as spoilers. In comparison to the regular Fortuner, the Leader Edition gets a tyre pressure monitoring system.

The car is available in three new twin-tone color options: Silver Metallic with a black top, Super White with a black roof, and Pearl White with a black roof. Inside the cabin, the new Fortuner Leader Edition features twin-tone seats, auto-folding mirrors, and a wireless charger.

The Vice President of Sales-Service-Used Car Business at Toyota, Sabari Manohar, said, "The Fortuner Leader Edition is a testament to Toyota's resolute commitment to providing best-in-class offerings, leading the way with power and style."

The new model only comes in a 4x2 configuration. Powering the Toyota Fortuner Leader edition is a 2.8-liter diesel engine. The unit produces 500 Nm of peak torque when mated to the six-speed automatic gearbox and 420 Nm when utilizing the manual.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor disclosed in a press release that the Fortuner was launched in 2009, and since then, the company has sold more than 2.51 lakh Fortuner units. It marked a remarkable surge of 48 percent in the financial year 2023-24. The MG Gloster, Jeep Meridian, and Isuzu MU-X are the only other vehicles in the segment now, with the Fortuner currently ruling this segment.

The auto giant recently launched the hybrid variant of the Toyota Fortuner in South Africa. The MHEV (Mild Hybrid Electric Vehicle) of Fortuner is powered by a 2.8-liter diesel engine that is mated to a 48V mild-hybrid system. The engine churns out 16 hp of peak power and 42 Nm of torque. As of now, the brand only offers the regular Hilux and Fortuner cars without the hybrid option.
