Toyota Glanza to likely launch on 6 June?

We had already informed you that the Japanese carmaker Toyota will launch their badge-engineered Baleno in India in June. Now there are reports that the name of this badge-engineered version will likely be Toyota Glanza and it will be launch in India on 6 June and the price will also be announced on the same date. To let you know, this will be the first product to hit the markets under the badge-engineering program that the Suzuki-Toyota partnership will spawn. With this launch, the Japanese carmaker Toyota will finally enter the premium hatchback segment in the Indian market.

New reports on the internet suggest that the company may offer a warranty of 3 years/1 lakh kms on the latest Toyota Glanza. The extended warranty program will take the period up to 5 years. Toyota also offers a 7-year Toyota Timeless warranty on their cars in India, however it is not confirmed whether Glanza will also come with the same. As far as the rivals are concerned the Baleno comes with a 2 years/ 40,000 km warranty whereas the Honda Jazz and Hyundai Elite i20 both offer a minimum of 3 years or 1 lakh km warranty.

Toyota will not go the mass market way with their upcoming Glanza and will try to position it as a more premium offering in the segment with the badge of Toyota also adding to the reliability of the product.

There are hopes that Toyota will not bring the diesel engine model of the Baleno to the market and instead will launch the petrol model only. However, there is no news on what engine will the Toyota’s version of Maruti Baleno will come with (out of the two current engines offer on Maruti Baleno). What can be said certainly is that the diesel engine is sure to be not offered on the upcoming Toyota hatchback in its current form. The new Toyota’s version of Baleno will be placed between Liva and Etios in the Indian market.

The two Japanese companies are strengthening their ties in India under the new partnership and the same deal will see Toyota making the Vitara Brezza for Maruti and also receiving it for badge-engineering. Not just this, Toyota will also get the Ertiga and Ciaz for the badge-engineering process. In turn, Maruti Suzuki will get Toyota’s Corolla Altis sedan and the latter will also supply India’s largest car maker with hybrid technology.
