The car is powered by a hybrid powertrain for improved performance and efficiency.

Toyota’s radical-looking SUV, the C-HR, was seen testing somewhere near Bengaluru. The C-HR is powered by a hybrid powertrain and is based on Toyota’s new TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. The car will be part of the carmaker’s line-up, but only in 2020 or 2021.

The car has bulging wheel arches, a very sporty coupé-like roofline and high-mounted boomerang tail-lights. The C-HR has equally funky interiors as well, but we’ll only know once the production version for India is out about how much it will retain.

The 1.8-litre petrol and electric motor combined make 122hp, promising plenty of zip and very good levels of efficiency. The car is only expected to hit showrooms sometime in 2020 or even 2021 and Toyota plans to either assemble or manufacture the car here.
