Toyota Kirloskar Motors will be rolling out the rebadged version of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Urban Cruiser tomorrow

Toyota Kirloskar Motors is all set to launch its second product ‘Urban Cruiser’ from its joint venture with Maruti Suzuki. The subcompact SUV is likely to fall in the price bracket of Rs 7.5 lakhs - Rs 11.5 lakhs (ex-showroom). A rebadged version of Vitara Brezza, the bookings for the SUV had already commenced last month at a token amount of Rs 11,000. Interested buyers can get it pre-booked. Also, Toyota is offering the ‘Respect Package’ for its customers who pre-book it prior to the launch. According to this package, a customer will get no-cost periodic maintenance for up to 2 years or 20,000 km, whichever comes earlier.

Cosmetically, Toyota Urban Cruiser will get subtle changes so as to look different from Maruti Vitara Brezza. Upfront, it gets Toyota Fortuner inspired twin-slat grille along with LED headlamps and LED fog lamps. Its rear end boasts of LED tail-lights. Riding on 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, it gets a new front bumper with faux skid plate and glossy black ORVMs. In addition, the rear bumper has also been tweaked a little. The upcoming Urban Cruiser retains the overall upright stance and the roofline as seen on Vitara Brezza.

As for the interior, the new Urban Cruiser is likely to get similar features as the Maruti Vitara Brezza. These would include a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment unit compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, steering mounted controls, cruise control, climate control, and auto-dimming IRVMs among others. We can expect the SUV to get light shade interiors with a dual-tone dashboard.

At the heart, the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser will draw its power from a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol mild-hybrid engine. The engine will deliver 103 bhp power and 138 Nm torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox along with 4-speed automatic transmission as an option. This is the same engine that currently powers the Maruti Vitara Brezza.
