The new Taisor is the sixth product to come from the joint venture between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has finally launched the new Urban Cruiser Taisor as its most affordable SUV in India. The new car is a subcompact SUV, and it is based on the Maruti Suzuki Fronx crossover. The Urban Cruiser Taisor is available at a starting price of INR 7.73 lakh (ex-showroom). It is the sixth product in India to come from the joint venture between Toyota and Maruti Suzuki. Bookings for the new SUV have commenced in the country, and delivery will start in May 2024.

In terms of design language, the Taisor is identical to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The SUV has a similar silhouette and dimensions, with an upgraded front and rear profile. Its unique visual components set it apart from the Fronx. The subcompact sports utility vehicle comes equipped with a new honeycomb mesh grille, which is finished in gloss black. The car gets new dual LED DRLs along with the imposing company’s logo in the centre. The Urban Cruiser Taisor also houses tweaked LED taillights and re-styled alloy wheels. The car retains the rear windscreen, which gives the model a unique and stylish appearance.

Inside the cabin, the Taisor shares several similarities with the Fronx. It comes equipped with a dual-pod instrument console along with a MID unit in the middle. The SUV is loaded with several updated features, including a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, automatic climate control, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a semi-digital instrument cluster, connected car technology, a wireless charger, ambient lighting, a 360-degree surround camera, steering-mounted controls, a six-speaker sound system, rear AC vents, push-button start/stop, and a head-up display.

Powering the new Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor are the same 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol and 1.0-liter turbo-petrol powertrains that are also equipped in the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. The 1.2-liter engine churns out power of 89 bhp and peak torque of 113 Nm, whereas the latter produces 99 bhp of power and 148 Nm of peak torque. Transmission duties are handled by a 5-speed manual with power units. The naturally aspirated unit is paired with a 5-speed AMT, and the 1.0-liter turbo-petrol engine is mated to a 6-speed torque converter. The brand is also offering a CNG powertrain.

In the SUV segment, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor is all set to compete against the Maruti Fronx, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Renault Kiger, Hyundai Venue, Nissan Magnite, and the Mahindra XUV300.
