Triumph and Bajaj teamed up to launch more affordable 400cc bikes in India.

India’s leading motorcycle manufacturer Triumph is gearing up to expand its 400cc bike line-up in the Indian market. The brand is all set to roll out a new Speed 400 variant in India on September 17, 2024, while deliveries are expected to begin next month. Triumph recently shared a teaser image on social media confirming the arrival of an affordable trim of the Speed 400.

The teaser image shared by the company shows a flat seat and a teardrop-shaped fuel tank in white and red livery. The engine visible in the image is the same powertrain equipped in the standard Scrambler 400X and Speed 400. Additionally, the image also shows a badge that clearly says Speed 400 and new bar-end mirrors.

The upcoming Triumph Speed 400-based bike will draw power from a 398cc, single-cylinder engine that churns out a maximum power of 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm of torque. The unit is paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The new bike could feature advanced amenities and design elements.

The new Triumph 400cc is being introduced during the festive season, a time when the automotive sector expects record-breaking sales numbers. Last year, the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X bikes were launched in India. With the festive season around, the two-wheeler giant is hoping to garner the attention of more customers.

In other news, Bajaj has also extended discounts on the Speed 400 and the Scrambler 400X. Both these models are being offered with discounts of up to INR 10,000. The Triumph and Bajaj Auto partnership has been beneficial for both companies. As part of the new partnership, the companies will launch more affordable 400cc bikes in India, which will be manufactured by Bajaj Auto. In Triumph's premium bike lineup, the forthcoming models will be positioned as entry-level variants.
