Triumph Motorcycles India has announced the launch of Trident 660 on April 6, 2021 in the country. It marks the entry of the iconic British brand in the premium middleweight roadster category in the Indian market. Triumph Trident 660 had its global unveiling last year in October while the bookings commenced from November 24 in India at a token amount of Rs 50,000. Besides the Trident 660, the company has two more roadster models in its arsenal in the form of Street Triple RS and the Street Triple R.
It has been learnt that the Triumph Trident 660 will be the most affordable motorcycle in Triumph's portfolio in India. It will be offered in a total of four paint schemes: Silver Ice & Diablo Red, Crystal White, Matt Jet Black & Matt Silver Ice and Sapphire Black. As for features, Triumph Trident 660 will come loaded with full LED headlamp, colored instrument cluster with ‘My Triumph’ connectivity system as optional, ride-by-wire throttle, and traction control. The bike will also get a couple of riding modes in the form of Road and Rain. Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, the Trident 660 weighs 189 kgs while having a fuel tank capacity of 14 litres. It will face competition from Suzuki V-Strom 650 and Kawasaki Versys 650 in the Indian market.
Mechanically, the Trident 660 will be powered by a 660cc three-cylinder engine which delivers top power of 80bhp and peak torque of 64Nm. The engine will be married to a 6-speed transmission alongside a slip & assist clutch as standard. A dual-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) will be available as standard safety feature. The company has announced a special finance scheme for the Trident wherein customers can bring home this new roadster at an EMI of just Rs 9999. However, it is for a limited period of time. The brand is also offering 2 years/unlimited kms engine warranty with the motorcycle while the service interval stands at 16000 kms. Triumph Trident 660 price is expected to start around Rs 7 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
