The new TVS Apache RTR 165 RP is limited to only 200 units in the country

TVS Motor Company has launched the much-awaited Apache RTR 165 RP at Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom) in the country. Having said this, it is the first offering under the brand’s Race performance sub-brand. The motorcycle is limited to only 200 units.

In terms of design, the new Apache RTR 165 RP is the same as the RTR 160 4V. However, it features a unique color scheme, seat cover, red alloy wheels, customized stickers, and TVS racing decals. In addition, the bike features a new headlamp assembly where the signature Front Position Lamp(FPL) functions simultaneously with low & high beam operations.

TVS claims that Apache RTR 165 RP comes with a new cylinder head with a 35 percent increase in intake and twin electrode spark plug. Besides this, the company has added 15 percent bigger valves to the new bike that are further controlled by Hi-Lift Hi-Duration cams and dual spring actuators for racier engine performance. Moving on, the Apache RTR 165 RP gets a revised bore stroke ratio of 1.37 that allows free-revving up to the redline and a new dome piston for a higher compression ratio.

The suspension setup has been retuned for this bike. The new model misses out on the adjustable suspension that is present on the RTR 200 4V. In terms of the brakes, the bike comes equipped with a 270mm disc upfront and a 240mm disc towards the rear coupled with a single-channel ABS system.

Performance-wise, the new Apache RTR 165 RP is powered by a 164.9cc, four-valve, single-cylinder motor that churns out a top power of 19.1 bhp at 10000rpm and a peak torque of 14.2 Nm at 8750rpm. The engine is further mated to a five-speed gearbox.
