Upcoming Skoda Rapid 1.0 litre TSI to be Launched with only a 6-speed MT

Skoda Rapid 1.0 litre TSI is all set to go on sale in its BS6 form; only to get a 6-speed MT.

The Rapid is Skoda’s most affordable car in India. It is now all set to go on sale in the BS6 avatar. Bookings for the same have already been opened since mid of March 2020. Skoda has equipped the Rapid with the new 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol engine that churns out 110 bhp power and 175 Nm torque. Initially, the Rapid 1.0 litre TSI will only get a 6-speed manual transmission. The option of a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox will only be added to the line-up after a couple of months. 

The BS6 Skoda Rapid will be the first car among others to be launched in India post coronavirus lockdown. The bookings of the sedan had been initiated by Skoda in March at a token amount of Rs 50,000. However, due to the ongoing crisis, the amount has now been reduced to Rs 25,000. The Skoda Rapid TSI 1.0 litre with the manual gearbox is expected to be priced in the range of Rs 8.7 lakhs - Rs 11. 7 lakhs (ex-showroom). 

Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI

The BS6 Skoda Rapid 1.0L TSI will be available in five trims namely Active, Ambition, Onyx, Style, and Monte Carlo. The entry-level model, Active will continue to be available in Candy White and Carbon Steel exterior color options. The Ambition and Style variants will be offered in four colors namely Brilliant Silver, Toffee Brown, Candy White, and Carbon Steel. The Onyx variant will be provided in two paint jobs White and Lapiz Blue. It is also likely to share its features list and safety kit with the mid-spec Ambition. The top-spec Monte Carlo will be offered in two body color formats namely Candy White and Flash Red.

2020 Skoda Rapid 1.0 litre comes with minor cosmetic upgrades. These include features like new LED DRLs, a new boot lid spoiler, and a rear diffuser. The car also gets an updated set of alloy wheels. The BS6 Rapid will also come equipped with a new touchscreen infotainment system.
