Maruti has recorded over 2 lakh bookings of its hot selling Vitara Brezza compact SUV, within a year of the car’s launch.
Such is the popularity of the model that it commanded a waiting period of up to nine months within a few months of being launched. Maruti had sold over 85,000 Brezzas by end of 2016 and selling nearly 9,000 units alone in the month of December.
In a bid to make the car more appealing, Maruti has even introduced its iCreate customisation programme for the Brezza, which allows customers to personalise their car before taking deliveries.
The Vitara Brezza takes on the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra NuvoSport, and is currently the bestselling sub-four-metre SUV. It dethroned the Ford EcoSport just months after its launch, and that doesn’t come as much of a surprise. The Brezza is well-equipped, spacious, fuel efficient and is backed by Maruti’s strong sales and service network.
One weakness of the Brezza is that it only comes with a diesel engine. To address this, Maruti is planning on introducing a petrol engine in the Brezza, which is sure to broaden the compact SUV’s appeal.
