The V90 is a tougher, estate version of Volvo’s S90 sedan.

Swedish carmaker Volvo’s next launch in India will arrive on July 12 in the form of the V90 Cross Country. It’s the go-anywhere version of the V90 estate, which is based on the impressive S90 sedan.

It shares much of its exterior styling and classy, minimalistic interior with its sedan sibling. It, however, gets a raised stance and a lot of tough body cladding which gives the estate its crossover looks. The tough looks aren’t just for show, though. All-wheel drive should allow the V90 Cross Country to tackle a decent amount of rough stuff. Additionally, it packs oodles of practicality. It’s got 560 litres of luggage space, which is expandable to 1,526 litres with the second-row seats folded.

Power will come from a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine; a similar unit to the one found in the S90 and the XC90. However, the motor makes a good 235hp in the Cross Country as against the 190hp it makes in the S90. It’s paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox.

The V90 Cross Country will slot in between the S90 sedan and the XC90 SUV in Volvo’s line-up..
