We are back with our weekly dose of Auto shots for you! This week we had quite a few launches. TVS launched Scooty Pep+ 'Mudhal Kadhal' limited edition and Jupiter Sheet White Metal variant. BMW launched the petrol variant of 2 Series Gran Coupe while Aston Martin launched the DBX SUV. Besides these, other launches included 2021 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports and 2021 Skoda Superb. Tesla has finally marked its entry into the Indian market. Lastly, Tata Motors has unveiled Altroz iTurbo and on the other hand, has rolled out the first unit of Safari.
TVS Scooty Pep 'Mudhal Kadhal' Edition Launched at Rs 56,085
TVS Motor Company has launched the Scooty Pep+ 'Mudhal Kadhal' limited edition at a starting price of Rs 56,085 (ex-showroom). This edition has specifically been introduced for the people of Tamil Nadu ahead of the Pongal celebration. The scooter flaunts “Mudhal Kadhal” lettering in Tamil on the side panels. Mechanically, it is powered by the same BS6 compliant 87.8 cc single-cylinder petrol engine with ET-Fi Ecothrust technology.
TVS Jupiter Sheet White Metal Launched
TVS Motor Company has launched a new variant of its 110cc scooter, Jupiter by the name of ‘Sheet White Metal’ at Rs 63,497 (ex-showroom). Performance-wise, it is powered by a 110cc single-cylinder engine. This new variant is offered in two colour options namely Metallic Silver and Metallic Titanium Grey.
2021 Honda Africa Twin Adventure Sports Launched at Rs 15.96 lakhs
Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India Pvt Ltd. has launched the 2021 Africa Twin Adventure Sports at an introductory price of Rs 15.96 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It is powered by a 1,084cc parallel-twin engine along with a Lithium-Ion battery which offers 1.6 times longer shelf life and 4 times longer durability in comparison to conventional batteries.
BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe Petrol Variant Launched
BMW India has launched the petrol variant of its BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe at Rs 40.90 lakhs (ex-showroom). The new variant 220i has been coupled with the ‘M Sport’ design package. In terms of design, it looks quite similar to its diesel counterpart. Performance-wise, it draws its power from BMW’s 2.0-litre TwinPower turbo petrol engine.
Tata Altroz iTurbo Unveiled in India
Tata Motors unveiled the much-anticipated Altroz iTurbo in the country. The hatchback will go on sale on January 22, 2021. Furthermore, it will come in a total of 3 variants - XT, XZ, and XZ+. Under the hood, it gets a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine that churns out 108 bhp power and 140 Nm torque while being linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox only.
2021 Tata Safari Production starts in Pune
Tata Motors has rolled out the first unit of 2021 Safari from the assembly line of its production facility in Pune. It is expected to launch on January 26, 2021. Furthermore, it will directly rival Mahindra XUV500 and MG Hector 7-seater in the Indian market. The 2021 Tata Safari will be based on the OMEGARC architecture which has been derived from Land Rover's renowned D8 platform.
Aston Martin DBX Launched at Rs 3.82 Crores
Aston Martin has launched the DBX SUV in the Indian market at a price of Rs 3.82 Crores (ex-showroom). This is the first SUV to arrive from the legendary British automaker. Under the bonnet, it is powered by a Mercedes-AMG-sourced 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 petrol engine that generates 542 bhp power and 700 Nm peak torque. The engine is further mated to a nine-speed torque converter automatic transmission unit.
2021 Skoda Superb Launched at Rs 31.99 Lakhs
Skoda Auto India has launched the new Superb Sportline and the new Laurin & Klement at Rs 31.99 lakhs and Rs 34.99 lakhs (all price, ex-showroom), respectively. The luxury sedan comes with four AFS modes- city, intercity, motorway, and rain. It comes with a modern design and exquisite interiors. The powertrain option remains the same as before.
Tesla India Motors & Energy to Start Operations in Bengaluru
The American electric car giant, Tesla has finally marked its entry into the Indian market. The company has officially registered under the name of Tesla India Motors and Energy Private Limited. It has set up an R&D unit in Bengaluru. Furthermore, Tesla is planning to launch its first model named Model 3 in June this year in India.
