The biggest news of the week is The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) announcement regarding the HSRP - High-Security Registration Plate. This rule is applicable to all vehicles sold before April 2019. Not just HSRP, colour-coded fuel stickers are mandatory for all vehicles with Delhi registration. On Tuesday, the Delhi Transport Department issued 239 challans to vehicles flouting the HSRP and colour-coded rules. Plus, the authority will be starting an enforcement drive with 50 teams to implement the rule. To help our readers understand the rule better and avoid getting fined, we bring you a detailed report.
What is HSRP (High-Security Registration Plate)?
HSRP stands for High-Security Registration Plates, it is issued by the government for vehicles. As per the data available in the public domain, a total of 30 lakh vehicles including 16 lakh two-wheelers, 12 lakh four-wheelers and two lakh commercial vehicles need to be fitted with HSRP. The HSRP plate consists of a hot-stamped chromium-based 20 mm X 20 mm hologram of Ashoka Chakra in blue colour on the top left corner. The holograph will verify whether the registration plate is genuine or not. Also, a hot-stamped film bearing the inscription “India” is applied at an angle of 45-degree on the plate. After the plate is affixed, HSRP is electronically linked to your vehicle.
Colour Coded Sticker
Colour coded fuel stickers are applied for three-wheelers and four-wheelers. The sticker will help the government agencies in identifying which fuel type (Petrol, Diesel, CNG or electric) is powering the vehicle.
How to Apply Online?
In case your vehicle is missing High-Security Registration Plate (HSRP) or the colour-coded sticker, you need to apply for it online or else fine is coming your way.
Follow the below steps to get your vehicle affixed with HSRP or the colour-coded sticker:
Step 1: Go to https://bookmyhsrp.com/
Step 2: Click the 'HSRP and colour coded stickers'.
Step 3: If the vehicle already has HSRP, you just click on the colour-coded sticker option.
Step 4: Now, you just to follow on-screen options popping up.
Step 5: Enter all the details like vehicle number, chassis number, engine number, owner name, address, fuel type, mobile number, among others.
Step 6: After clicking submit all details, the username and password will be forwarded to your registered number.
Step 7: Log in with your username and password and make the online payment.
Step 8: Once the HSRP is completed, a message will be sent to your registered mobile number.
Fine Amount:
As per the amended Motor Vehicle Act, violators can be fined up to Rs 10,000, which is compoundable to Rs 5500.
