SAIC-owned Wuling motor company just took the wraps off its new SUV, which is based on the Baojun 530, at the ongoing GIIAS motor show in Indonesia. The Baojun 530 SUV will form the basis for the first model from MG Motor India. The name isn’t out yet, the company is, for now, calling it the “Wuling SUV” in the Indonesian market.
The India-bound Baojun 530 made its China debut in March 2018. With its large dimensions and long equipment list, MG India will look at pricing this SUV just below Rs 20 lakh. In China, you get the car with a pair of petrol engines – namely a 1.8-litre naturally aspirated unit and a 1.5-liter turbo-charged one. For India, MG might use a Fiat 2.0-litre diesel engine option from FCA India.
The car will be produced at SAIC’s plant (formerly owned by General Motors) in Halol, Gujarat. The company has also showcased the E100 small electric car at the show.
Throughout the initial week, all versions are eligible for a special introductory reduction of Rs 10,000. Presenting a trio of models, Ola Electric's fresh entry-level release commences at Rs 89,999 for the 2kWh variant. The middle-tier edition, denoted as the S1 X, is equipped with a larger 3kWh battery and bears a price tag of Rs 99,999. At the pinnacle of the X series rests the S1 X+, which incorporates supplementary connectivity features and is priced at Rs 1,09,999. Until August 21, all three iterations are available with a Rs 10,000 markdown from the previously mentioned prices.
