New 2019 Yamaha MT-15 was showcased in Thailand. The design and styling cues are inspired by the bigger MT bikes. The predator style LED headlights looks very ferocious. The bike looks very muscular and tantalizing with the sculpted fuel tank.
The all-digital instrument cluster along with other mechanical hardware is taken directly from the fully faired R15 V.30. The bike is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled single cylinder motor which is mated to a 6-speed gearbox that churns out 19.3 BHP and 15 Nm of twisting force. The Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) offers good gush of power throughout the rev range without hampering the fuel efficiency.
This bike costs over Rs. 2.2 lakhs in Thailand and if Yamaha plans to bring this bike to India, they would have to strip the premium hardware and fit conventional equipment to keep the cost low. The USD fork will be replaced by conventional forks. However, the launch of MT-15 in India is still under covers.
