The compact two-seater uses a 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol motor.

The new design concept will be showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show, and will show the company’s intent on producing its first road car.

The two-seater sportscar is built on an iStream design process made by McLaren F1 designer Gordon Murray. Yamaha has been looking at introducing a proper road-going car, it showed the Motiv city car concept in 2013 to this regard.

Each concept for Yamaha has been built using Murray’s iStream manufacturing process, which uses carbon-fibre for lower production costs in high-volume cars. The mid-engined concept will most likely be powered by a turbocharged, three-cylinder, 1.0-litre unit, that will be based on the engine first shown on the Yamaha Motiv. The Motiv’s motor makes 76hp,1 but we expect the production version to make around 100hp.
