Ford has introduced the all-new Ford Focus ST which is based on the new C2 architecture with new engine options and mechanicals that makes it more powerful and improves the driving dynamics of the hot hatchback. Compared to the regular hatch, the ST version comes with sporty exterior styling and updated interiors to make it look performance oriented.
Powering the new Ford Focus ST are two engine options - 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol and 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel. The 2.3-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine replaces the 2.0-litre unit of the older car. This engine produces a maximum power output of 280 PS at 5500 RPM and peak torque of 420 Nm at 3000-4000 RPM. Ford claims 0-100 km/hr timing of under 6 seconds.
The 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel engine produces 190 PS of maximum power output at 3500 RPM while the peak torque is 400 Nm at 2000-3000 RPM. It is the most powerful diesel engine fitted in a Ford Focus. Both the diesel and petrol engine come with a 6-speed manual and 7-speed automatic transmission options. We don't expect Ford to launch this in India.
