Mercedes-Benz has come up with a unique luxury MPV segment with the launch of the new V-Class MPV in India. It is available in two versions V-Class Expression and V-Class Exclusive. The Expression comes with a long wheelbase and is priced at Rs. 68.40 lakhs while the Exclusive comes with an extra long wheelbase which is priced at Rs. 81.90 lakhs (ex-showroom, India).
The V-Class is offered in both the 6 and 7 seater long-wheelbase (Exclusive) and extra-long-wheelbase (Expression) variants. Powering the V-Class is a 2.1-litre diesel engine that produces a maximum power output of 161 BHP with a peak torque of 380 Nm. This engine is mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission and complies with the BS6 emission norms.
The 0-100 km/hr acceleration time is claimed to be 10.9 seconds. Mercedes-Benz India is offering the Star Ease maintenance packages for the V 220 d which starts at Rs. 1,48,700/- for 2 year/30,000 kms. It is currently being offered as a CBU unit, imported from Spain, if the demand is high, the German carmaker will consider assembling the car in India locally.
In terms of safety, the V-Class comes with 6 airbags, Attention Assist, Active Parking Assist with 360 degree camera and PRE-SAFE. It comes with four colour options Obsidian Black Metallic, Cavensite Blue Metallic, Mountain Crystal White Metallic and Brilliant Silver Metallic.
