The 2020 Maruti S-Cross BS6 petrol has been spotted at a dealership ahead of tomorrow's launch.

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the 2020 S-Cross BS6 petrol on August 5, 2020, i.e. tomorrow, in the Indian market. The bookings for Maruti S-Cross had begun a couple of weeks back across all the company authorized dealerships at a token amount of Rs 11,000. However, ahead of the launch, the dealer dispatch of the crossover has started and it has been spotted at a dealership by Rushlane reader Vishnu Dass. Being retailed via the NEXA chain of premium dealerships, the 2020 Maruti S-Cross BS6 petrol will directly rival Renault Duster in India.

Maruti S-Cross BS6 Interior

Maruti S-Cross was firstly introduced nearly five years back in 2015 with a couple of diesel engines: a 1.3L unit and a 1.6L unit. A couple of years later in 2017, the bigger and more powerful 1.6L diesel engine was phased out from the crossover and only 1.3L diesel engine was continued. But now, as the BS6 emission norms have kicked in from April 1, 2020, the company had to discontinue the diesel range altogether and introduce it with a petrol engine with Smart hybrid technology for the first time. The S-Cross is not an exception as Maruti has discontinued its diesel engine from all the vehicles such as Baleno, Swift, Ciaz and DZire. Being Maruti's flagship model, over 1.25 Lakh units of the crossover have been sold till date in the country.

The 2020 Maruti S-Cross BS6 petrol will come with a handful of subtle cosmetic updates such as the upright stance and the latest version of 7-inch SmartPlay Studio touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It will continue to be offered in four grades: Sigma, Delta, Zeta and Alpha. Being tested at Maruti's R&D facility in Rohtak, the S-Cross petrol will be powered by the BS6 compliant 1.5L 4-cylinder K15 engine which develops top power of 105bhp and peak torque of 138Nm while linked to a 5-speed manual gearbox. There will also be a 4-speed torque converter automatic transmission as option. The 2020 Maruti S-Cross BS6 petrol price is expected to be in range of Rs 8-11 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).
