It is a proud moment for Toyota Motor Corporation as its 12th- Gen 2020 Toyota Corolla has secured full 5-star ratings in the latest crash test conducted by Latin NCAP.

The 2020 Toyota Corolla car was a Brazil- spec car that had 7 airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX anchorages. The car also comes with autonomous emergency braking, which comes as an option in some models. 2020 Toyota Corolla not only bagged 5 stars for adult occupant protection but also for child occupant protection as well. The car scored 29.41 points out of the total 34 points for adult occupant protection and 45 points out of the total 49 points for child occupant protection.

The crash reports released by Latin NCAP noted that the car’s bodyshell was “stable” and “capable of withstanding further loadings.”

The crash tests conducted comprised of 3 different types of crash tests. The first crash test conducted was a front offset crash done at speed of 64kph, while the second crash test was a side-impact crash and the last test was a side-pole impact test.  The 12th Gen Corolla did extremely well in all 3 crash test with the NCAP report suggesting the presence of sufficient protection for adult occupants under all circumstances.

The Brazilian spec Toyota Corolla is based on Toyota’s TNGA platform that is available with 2 engine options.

The first option has a 2.0-litre petrol engine that belts out 177bhp of power while the second option comes with a 1.8-litre petrol engine that is paired with two electric motors.

The crash tests have raised cemented the confidence in the company’s commitment to safety in their cars.
