The all-new Hyundai Bayon breaks cover in the European market

Hyundai Motor Company has unveiled the all-new Bayon crossover globally. The crossover SUV will be positioned above the Venue and below the Creta in the company’s global line-up. Furthermore, it is based on the same platform as the current-gen Hyundai i20. As of now, it will exclusively be sold in the European market. Talking about the India debut, no such information has been revealed yet.

In terms of design, the new Bayon gets a sharp design. The crossover SUV follows Hyundai’s latest ‘Sensuous Sportiness’ design language. Upfront, it gets a wide grille that opens up at the bottom. It gets an aggressive look due to its wide & sleek DRLs and sporty air intakes. On the sides, the crossover SUV gets an arrow-shaped C-pillar. The rear end looks bold with arrow-shaped tail-lights. Besides these, Bayon comes with the option of 15-inch steel or 16- or 17-inch alloy wheels.

Moving inside the cabin of the 2021 Bayon, it gets features like a 10.25-inch infotainment unit and a 10.25-inch instrument panel. A smaller 8-inch centre screen comes as standard in the base model. The infotainment system is compatible with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Other feature highlights include a Bose premium sound system, 3 USB ports, and a wireless charging pod. Besides these, the SUV also features the latest version of Hyundai BlueLink connected car tech with multiple features and ambient lighting. The safety kit comprises lane following assist, driver attention warning, navigation-based smart cruise control, forward collision-avoidance assist, rear occupant alert, and leading vehicle departure alert among many others.

Under the hood, the Hyundai Bayon is offered with three engine options. The 1.2-litre MPi petrol unit develops 80 bhp power and 117 Nm torque while being mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The higher-trims receive a 1.0-litre turbo petrol motor that churns out 99 bhp power. This particular engine can be availed with a six-speed manual and a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox. Customers can also get a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder, turbo-petrol mill paired with a 48V mild-hybrid system that generates 118 bhp power. It is further linked either to a 6-speed iMT or a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox.
