The 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R has been redesigned; will be sold in Europe

KTM has revealed the new off-road-centric 1290 Super Adventure R. This new motorcycle comes with revised bodywork, new engine internals and chassis along with new electronic suites. KTM 1290 Super Adventure R will be sold in the European market in the next few months. As for the price, we can expect it to cost around 16,000 GBP (around Rs 16.38 lakhs). As of now, the India launch is yet not confirmed.

In terms of design, the motorcycle gets subtle changes. Upfront, it features a new full-LED headlamp similar to the one seen on the new 1290 Super Adventure S. It further gets a new 7-inch TFT display controlled by redesigned switchgear. The Super Adventure R misses out on the radar assisted cruise control feature that made its debut on the S model. Other feature highlights include traction control, motor slip regulation, cornering ABS, off-road ABS, keyless ignition, cruise control, and TPMS. Besides these, the bike gets an up-down quick shifter, the rally mode with its adjustable traction control, hill hold, and throttle response as options. KTM 1290 Super Adventure R gets a new color scheme that is inspired by the old 990 Adventure.

Mechanically, the 2021 KTM 1290 Super Adventure R gets the same engine as its predecessor. It draws power from a 1301cc V-twin engine. The power output stands the same at 160 bhp while the torque output has been reduced slightly from 140 Nm to 138 Nm. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox. Also, the engine is now 1.6 kgs lighter. It further gets lighter engine cases, altered coatings, new pistons, and a revised exhaust unit.
