KTM is likely to take the wraps off its top-of-the-line ADV, the 1290 Super Adventure on January 26, 2021. The brand had released a teaser with the tagline “The World Gets Smaller” recently. Besides this, the brand’s official European website received an update earlier this month wherein the model page for the KTM 1290 Super Adventure went live. However, it has now been taken down. It revealed a few details about the updated 1290 Adventure. The images for the same have been leaked online. The website further revealed that the updated 1290 Adventure will come in two variants: R and S.
The bike has been spotted doing test runs quite a few times in the past. Furthermore, it is likely to be KTM first motorcycle to come equipped with radar-based adaptive cruise control. BMW Motorrad and Ducati have already used this feature in their products. Now, Honda is also planning to introduce a similar system in its next product.
The 2021 Super Adventure bike will be using a reworked exhaust system to meet the BS6 emission norms. We can expect the power figure to be the same at 158 bhp. However, the peak torque might go down from 140 Nm to 138 Nm. The 2021 Super Adventure bike will sit on a chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame combining laser-cut tubes and forged elements. The bike will get a redesigned seat that will be positioned a bit lower in comparison to its predecessor.

The R variant will be seen riding on the tubeless wire-spoke wheels while the S variant will get alloy wheels with MITAS Terra Force-R tyres. As for the cycle parts, we can expect them to remain the same as before. Talking about the features, there might as well be no such changes apart from the addition of a radar-based adaptive cruise control system on the S variant.
