Last week, Renault Kiger was spied during its test runs and the first interior of the upcoming subcompact SUV came out. Now, it has been spotted as a test mule albeit with a little less camouflage. The leaked images show the front fascia of the Kiger sub 4-meter SUV with the respective styling elements. Underpinning the same CMF-A+ platform as Renault Triber, it is expected to launch during the festive season of October-November 2020 while locking horns with the likes of Maruti Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV300.
As the spy-images suggest, Renault Kiger would come with a split headlamp setup. However, it will be given premium touches to make it upmarket than the Kwid hatchback. In addition, other signature Renault styling elements such as dual horizontal silver slats, V-shaped front grille and LED daytime running lights (DRLs) are visible from the spy-shots. Furthermore, the alloy wheels indicate that the test mule is a range-topping variant. The SUV has a slightly broader stance than the Triber to bring out its SUVish character. As for features, Renault Kiger is likely to get several premium bells and whistles in the form of digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, engine start/stop, multi-function power steering wheel and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay & Android Auto.

Mechanically, Renault Kiger will be powered by the BS6 compliant 1.0L 3-cylinder petrol engine. The engine will be offered in its naturally aspirated form as well as with a turbocharger. The former will develop top power of 71bhp with 5-speed manual and 5-speed AMT gearbox while the latter will belt out 95bhp. The turbo version will be offered with a CVT unit as optional, besides the conventional 5-speed manual transmission. Being internally codenamed as Renault HBC, the Kiger is expected to be priced in a range of Rs 5.5-9 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom). The Kiger, on the lines of Kwid, will undergo heavy localization at the Renault-Nissan Alliance production facility in Chennai to ensure a highly competitive pricing.
