New set of images shed light on 2021 Mahindra XUV500’s dashboard layout as well as the instrument cluster position.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 has been spotted testing on the Indian roads for quite some time now. To be fair, no model has been spied so many times than the upcoming SUV. Its launch was expected in 2020 but COVID-19 pandemic pushed the plan to this year. As we inch closer to the introduction, new details about the upcoming SUV have been revealed thanks to the new set of spied images. Courtesy of our friends at Rushlane, we have got our hand on 2021 Mahindra XUV500 petrol spy shots. The new images shed light on the dashboard layout as well as the instrument cluster position. The launch of this product might be delayed further due to semiconductor chip shortage across the world. Due to chip shortage, Mahindra Thar deliveries have also been delayed. Upon the launch, 2021 Mahindra XUV500 would rival the likes of MG Hector Plus and Tata Harrier in the domestic market. New Mahindra XUV500 would retail in the region of Rs 13 lakhs - Rs 20 lakhs (ex-showroom), India.

As per the pictures, the J-shaped LED DRL positioned below the front projector headlamps is missing in the prototype. The manufacturer might plan to offer a different headlight system on various variants. Also, there is a good chance that the headlights might have been redesigned again. Another notable design update is the swapping of claw-shaped door handles for the conventional pull-out ones. The new XUV500 will ride on a new set of 18-inch 10 spoke alloy wheels.

Moving on to the interior, one can look forward to a spacious cabin due to the increase in dimensions. The touchscreen infotainment system will be positioned more towards the right beside the digital instrument cluster. There will also be support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. There is quite a bit of space between the two consoles as of now. The production-spec model would add a feature to cover the gap. Also, the instrument cluster will comprise a tachometer and speedometer on the right and left side, respectively. The central AC vents will be placed below the infotainment system. One can look forward to chrome elements on the steering wheel as well as the infotainment system.

The 2021 Mahindra XUV500 will come equipped with 2 engine options namely a 2.0-litre mStallion turbo petrol motor and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel mill. Both the engines are expected to offer 6-speed manual as well as 6-speed automatic torque converter gearboxes. In the top-end variants, the AWD option is expected to feature.
