After much delay, New Royal Enfield Himalayan launch is finally going to take place on February 11, 2021, in India. Thanks to the new spy images surfacing on the internet, we can confirm that the new Himalayan is already arriving at the dealerships. The upcoming adventure tourer is expected to come with few cosmetic tweaks and new features. There is no update on the mechanical front while three new colour options of Mirage Silver, Granite Black and Pine Green are going to be made available with the new Himalayan alongside the existing model’s colour choices of Snow White, Sleet Grey, Gravel Grey, Rock Red and Lake Blue. 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan is expected to retail at a starting price of Rs 2.0 lakh (ex-showroom), India.
The major change to talk about is that the metal frame has been moved forward. This is quite different from the current model where the metal frame would come in close contact with a taller rider’s knees. To give a more comfortable riding experience, the manufacturer has used a smaller and forward metal frame. Also, the windscreen is slightly taller and wider in comparison to the current Himalayan model. For easier luggage mounting, the new Himalayan features a top plate on the rear carrier. Its front mudguard provides a matte black extension lending a rugged appeal to the upcoming bike. Other notable highlights include a black heat shield on the exhaust and an all-black headlight casing.
The design and layout of the instrument console remain the same as before. The major talking point is the addition of a Tripper Navigation system that made its debut on the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 last year. It is a google powered turn by turn navigation system in which the user’s smartphone can be connected using Bluetooth.
echanically, there is no change as the 2021 Royal Enfield Himalayan continues to be powered by a 411cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine. The adventure tourer churns out 24.3bhp of maximum power output @ 6,500rpm and 32Nm of peak torque between 4,000rpm – 4,500rpm. The engine is paired to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox. The hardware components are carried over from the current Himalayan model on sale in India. The suspension duties here are taken care of by 41mm telescopic forks upfront and a monoshock towards the rear. Its braking system comprises front and rear disc brakes with switchable ABS as standard.
