The test drives for the potential buyers are likely to start from next week

The 2021 Skoda Octavia is all set to be launched by the end of April in the Indian market. However, prior to the official launch, it has been spotted at a Skoda showroom which clearly indicates that the dealer dispatch has begun. A couple of weeks back, the company had revealed that series production of the sedan has commenced at its Aurangabad plant. The test drives for the potential buyers are likely to start from next week while the fourth-gen Skoda Octavia price is expected to start from Rs 20 Lakhs (Ex. Showroom).

Being based on Volkswagen Group's MQB EVO architecture, the 2021 Skoda Octavia was spotted in the range-topping Laurin and Klement (L&K) trim. Dimensionally, it is longer than the previous-gen model while it flaunts the Skoda's signature butterfly grille and single-piece LED headlamps upfront. The sedan will ride on turbine-like alloy wheels as standard. The rear profile is highly inspired by the elder sibling Superb which reflects in the split LED tail-lamp cluster and tailgate design. The cabin too has been refurbished with a lot of premium features such as dual-zone climate control, cruise control, wireless charging, ambient lighting, powered front seats and a large touchscreen infotainment system with voice commands and connected car technology.

As far as the safety features are concerned, the sedan will come equipped with 6-airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Control (ESC) and Front & Rear Parking Sensors. Mechanically, the new-gen Skoda Octavia will be offered with a 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine only. Having said that, there will not be a diesel engine on offer at least for the time being. The petrol motor will deliver a top power of 187bhp while paired to a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission. The conventional gear-lever will be replaced by a shift-by-wire system. Skoda might well introduce a smaller 1.5L petrol engine with power output of 147bhp at a later stage. Skoda Octavia will directly rival Hyundai Elantra in the Indian market.
