The introductory price for the base XE variant of Tata Safari is likely to start from Rs 14.99 Lakhs

Tata Motors recently unveiled the all-new Safari in the Indian market. The SUV is a three-row version of the Harrier. The bookings for the Safari will commence from 4th February. As per our friends at Indian Auto, the introductory price of the iconic SUV will start from Rs 14.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The prices are likely to go as high as Rs 21.99 Lakhs (ex-showroom) for the range-topping XZ+ trim. The flagship SUV will be offered in a total of six trims in India - XE, XM, XT, XT+, XZ, and XZ+.

In comparison to the base variant of Tata Harrier which costs Rs 13.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), the all-new Safari is Rs 1 lakh expensive. This is mainly because of the extra row of seats. Details regarding the launch date and the booking amount have not been revealed yet.

If we talk about the design, the 2021 Safari looks quite similar to the Harrier. However, it does get subtle changes. Upfront, the SUV features Tata’s signature tri-arrow grille with a chrome finish. Dimension-wise, the Safari is taller and wider than the 5-seater Harrier. Furthermore, it gets a completely redesigned rear end with a full rear-quarter glass, a stepped roof, a new tailgate, revised tail-lights, and a more upright rear section.

The cabin of the Safari boasts of an Oyster White interior with Ashwood inserts for the dashboard. The SUV comes equipped with a host of features. These include an 8.8-inch floating Island touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, panoramic sunroof, a premium 9 JBL speaker sound unit, steering mounted controls and 7-inch TFT display instrument cluster among others.

Under the hood, 2021 Tata Safari is powered by a Fiat-sourced 2.0-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 168 bhp power and 350 Nm of peak torque. The engine can further be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox.
