The 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift has finally been unveiled in its full glory. The updated SUV has been introduced in two trim levels: Standard and Legender. The former is entry-level grade with lesser features while the latter is the full-loaded feature rich variant with advanced features. It is not yet known whether the Japanese automaker will launch both the Standard and Legender trims of the 2021 Fortuner facelift in the Indian market. It is expected to hit the Indian roads in the first half of 2021.

The Standard and Legender variants are different in terms of styling as the latter flaunts bolder design as compared to older model. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner Legender exterior highlights include a refreshed front fascia with sleeker dual projector LED headlamps with LED sequential turn indicators at the bottom. In addition, there is a thinner upper grille while the lower grille has grown in size. Though, both the grilles are finished in black color with a new layout. There is a new skid plate with an even edgier front bumper to sum the changes upfront. The SUV rides on newly designed dual-tone finished 20-inch alloy wheels with black ORVMs and roof as standard. The rear profile boasts of a redesigned LED tail-lamp cluster with LED sequential turn indicator, new bumper with L-shaped outer ends and a glossy black spoiler.
Speaking of the Standard variant, it features toned-down styling with LED projector headlamps. The upper front grille, however, identical to the Legender grade, is massive in size. Other exterior elements at front include tweaked fog lamp housing and bumper. The 2021 Toyota Fortuner Standard rides on 18-inch alloy wheels which flaunt a plain design while missing out on the dual-tone finishing. In fact, it also misses out on black ORVMs and LED sequential turn indicators while the rear bumper is retained from the older model with no changes. Inside the cabin, both the Standard and Legender variants have similar layout and features. As compared to the current model, it gains a few new features like Optitron meter with a 4.2-inch MID, wireless charger, ambient lighting, bigger and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system.

As far as safety features are concerned, Toyota has equipped the new SUV with Toyota Fortuner Safety Sense active safety features which comprises of Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control and a 360-degree camera. Though, Toyota Safety Sense is exclusive to the Legender variant. Under the hood, the 2021 Toyota Fortuner facelift has the 2.8L 1GD-FTV diesel engine which has been updated to deliver a top power of 201bhp at 3400rpm and peak torque of 500Nm between 1600-2800rpm. The engine is linked to a 6-speed automatic transmission as standard with no manual gearbox on offer even as optional. Toyota has also increased the towing capacity by 300kgs to make it 3100 kgs.
