The car’s front-end styling was revealed in new Need For Speed game promo footage.
A promotional video of Need For Speed Payback, the latest installation of the game franchise, gives a glimpse of the new BMW M5.
In the video, the new M5 sports an aggressive set of air intakes in the front bumper and the M5 logo on the car’s kidney grille. Styling of the M5 performance sedan subtle as compared to its more aggressive M4 sibling. That said, the M5 will get substantial upgrades to its underpinnings.
While exact outputs from the 4.4-litre, V8 petrol (an uprated version of the current cars engine) are not out, it’s expected to put out in the region of 624hp and over 700Nm of torque, both of which are more than the model it replaces. Plus, the new car is about 65kg lighter, all of which should translate into a quicker 0-100kph than the outgoing M5’s time of 3.5sec. It will the 611hp Mercedes-AMG E 63.
In a bid to make it as driveable and controllable, the M5 will get all-wheel drive as an option. It will get three drive modes, 4WD, 4WD Sport and 2WD (drives the rear wheels).
A new eight-speed automatic gearbox also features, as do new adaptive dampers and a rear differential with carbon clutch blades for quicker and more precise power transfer.
