Mercedes Benz has unveiled the fifth-generation C-Class ahead of its official launch on May 10. The bookings of the new vehicle are already underway. While the production has begun at the brand’s Chakan facility. Once launched in the Indian market, the new C-Class will rival the likes of the Volvo S60, BMW 3 Series, and Audi A4.
Mercedes C-Class will be offered in a total of three variants namely C 200, C 220d, and C 300d. The C 200 and C 220d trims will be available in the Avantgarde line. While the C 300d variant will be sold through the sportier AMG line. Performance-wise, the C 200 trim gets a new 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol unit that generates a top power of 203 bhp and a peak torque of 300 Nm. The C 220d, on the other hand, will come equipped with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder diesel engine that churns out 199 bhp power and 440 Nm peak torque. While the C 300d will draw its power from a 2.0-litre four-cylinder unit that dishes out 264 bhp power and 550 Nm peak torque. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The luxury sedan will further get a 48V mild-hybrid tech with an integrated started generator (ISG) system that provides an additional 19 bhp power and up to 200 Nm torque.
