9th Edition of 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally was recently held in Delhi NCR region.

India as a country is a unique one where the people adopt modern ways but are in love with its rich heritage past. India’s rich motoring history is unbelievable and the 9th edition of the 21 Gun Salute International Car Rally & Concours d’ elegance 2020 held between the 15th to 16th of February 2020 showcased the rich heritage of vintage and classic automobiles. Every automobile owner had a story to tell about their car collection and the line-up of vehicles during this exhibit on the first day had India Gate as its backdrop. The historical and majestic monument was a witness to classic and the rarest automobiles such as 1938 Rolls-Royce 25/30, 1951 Bentley MK VI Freestone & Webb, 1966 Ford Mustang, 1930 Cadillac V-16 Roadster, 1959 Alfa 2000 among many others. International representation at the 21 Gun Salute Rally has been omnipresent since the first edition and 2020 was no exception with the presence of exciting and vintage classics. There were eternal classics like 1930 Cadillac V-16 Roadster from the USA, Maserati 3500 GT SpyderVignale from Belgium, 1951 Bentley MK VI Freestone & Webb from Germany, 1959 Jaguar XK 150S from Belgium, Europe and America. 

Organized in association with the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism, the 21 Gun Salute International Vintage Car Rally & Concours d’Elegance kept up with the tradition of a flag off at the majestic India Gate. Shri. KTS Tulsi - President HMCI, Mr. Madan Mohan Chairman & Trustee of the 21 Gun Salute Heritage & Cultural Trust and many other esteemed national & international dignitaries flagged off the event on day one. 

The nostalgia and the historical heritage continued to day 2 of the event that moved from India Gate to Karma Lakeland in the State Of Haryana.  Various categories were created under which these classics were classified as Edwardian, Pre & Post-war American, Preservation, Pre and Post War European. The exhibit also witnessed famous brands like MG, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Preservation, Jaguar & Daimler that were judged by an esteemed jury panel. The Jury panel comprised of Christoph Grohe, David Cooper, Filip Bourgoo, Gianfranco G. M. Gentile, Hugo Modderman with Christian Kramer as the Chief Judge. 

 Keeping up with the traditions of awarding the best of show trophy for the best automobile at the event, 1949 Bentley MK VI Razor Edge owned by Yohan Poonawala won the competition defeating other stunning and elegant models on display which speaks volumes about the winning automobile pedigree and class. 

The closing ceremony was graced by Vivek Oberoi, Bollywood Star and he was visibly enthralled by the appearance of majestic heritage cars from around the globe. We all look forward to the next edition where we will see more majestic automobiles making an appearance and falling in love with the rich heritage of the motoring world.
