'Aeromobil' - the world’s first commercially available flying car - will be displayed at the Petersen Automotive Museum on April 1, 2022. It can transform from a supercar to an aircraft in under three minutes while having an estimated driving range of 966 kilometres and a flying range of 750 kilometres for a single passenger. Drawing inspiration from the mythical winged horse Pegasus, Aeromobil can expand from a width of seven feet to a wingspan of 30 feet. It took an effort and hardwork of 10 years to create the world's first flying car.
Aeromobil can sprint to 100kmph from standstill in merely 10 seconds while clocking a top driving speed of 160kmph. On the aviation side, it has a flying cruising speed of 257 kmph, a climbing rate of 1200 feet per minute and a flying range of 750 kilometres (515 kilometres for dual occupants). It comprises of adaptive flight control surfaces and vehicle suspension for optimal take-off and landing. The flying car is also equipped with a ballistic recovery parachute system and an integral carbon fiber structure and occupant cell for driver/pilot and passenger safety. Aeromobil has been engineered and tested in accordance with the CS 23 aerospace certification standard.
It has been developed by the students at Nihon Automotive Technology School (NATS) in Japan
