Aprilia SXR 160 production to begin in India ahead of the official launch

Piaggio India intends to commence the production of its upcoming Aprilia SXR 160 at its Baramati manufacturing facility. The all-new premium scooter was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo this year. We can expect it to be launched by the year end in the Indian market.

In terms of design, the New Aprilia SXR 160 gets a large bodywork that the company calls as 'CrossMax' design. Upfront, it provides twin LED headlamps integrated with LED DRLs. It also features a tall windscreen, step-up style single seat, Aprilia signature graphics paired with matte black design trims and a dark chrome inserts. Furthermore, the premium scooter will ride on 12-inch five-spoke machined alloy wheels with wide pattern tyres. Other highlights will include a digital instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity.

Mechanically, the upcoming Aprilia SXR 160 will draw its power from a 160cc three-valve, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine borrowed from the SR 160. Its power and torque output have not been revealed yet. However, we can expect the motor to generate 10.8 bhp power while being paired to a CVT gearbox. In terms of cycle parts, the scooter is expected to feature telescopic front forks and adjustable rear shock absorbers. The braking duties will be taken care of by ventilated disc brakes with twin pot calipers and ABS as standard.
