Earlier this month, Aprilia India unveiled the RS 457 in the Indian market. The company’s retro-styled test motorcycle has been spotted in Europe recently. Based on the nomenclature used by the Italian manufacturer, this motorcycle could attain the naming as Aprilia Tuono 457. The new Tuono 457 will come with the same hardware but without the massive fairing.
The RS 457 is available at a price of INR 4.10 lakh (ex-showroom). Deliveries for the new motorcycle will commence next year. It will rival the likes of the KTM RC 390, TVS Apache RR 310, Yamaha R3, Kawasaki Ninja 400, and more. The spy shots suggest the Tuono 457’s wide single-piece handlebar, one-piece seat, and center-set footpegs, along with more relaxed ergonomics compared to the designated riding position.

The test mule gets minimal body panels and a circular headlamp that would give the motorcycle a retro appearance. The company is likely to change the name of the Tuono 457 to the trademark Aprilia design in the new production-spec form. The styling of the bike is based on the Tuono 660. The test motorcycle also gets USD forks at the front and a monoshock at the back, situated on one side of the swingarm.
The Tuono 457 will be lighter than the RS 457; it will weigh 175 kg (kerb). That should further help to enhance the motorcycle's power-to-weight ratio while at the same time retaining the electronics and mechanical bits from the full-faired variant. It will be powered by the same 457-cc liquid-cooled, dual-cylinder engine equipped in the RS 457. The engine churns out a horsepower of 47.6 bhp and a peak torque of 43.5 Nm. In addition, the bike will have ride modes, traction control, a digital panel, a slipper clutch quickshifter, dual-channel ABS disc brakes on both ends, and traction control.
The company will start selling the RS 457 globally, along with Piaggio, next year. The Tuono 457 is likely to be revealed globally at the end of next year, and it will debut in early 2025. The motorcycle will be produced alongside the Aprilia RS 457 at Piaggio’s facility located in Baramati, Maharashtra, which will give the bike a cost advantage. Additionally, India is going to be the export center for the 457 twins.
