The is the carmaker’s fastest and most powerful vehicle yet and it can hit 100kph in 3.4sec.

The DBS Superleggera is Aston Martin’s fastest and most powerful sportscar. This car will replace the Vanquish S as its performance range-topper.

The Superleggera in the name stands for super light and Aston Martin’s exterior design chief, Miles Nurnberger, said the name was “just wonderfully romantic”, and added, “This car is what it says it is. If we’d gone with another generation of Vanquish, you’d have a different car here.”

The new DBS Superleggera is powered by a turbocharged 5.2-litre V12 engine that makes 725hp and 900Nm. The car is claimed to be able to hit 100kph in 3.4sec, 160kph in 6.4sec and 200kph in less than 9sec. Aston Martin is targeting existing Vanquish customers as well with this car and the DBS Superleggera is due to go on sale later this year in coupé form. A Volante version will go on sale in 2019.
