The car sees the debut of the company’s new 1.2-litre petrol engine and a new five-speed manual gearbox.

The car has been launched at an introductory price of Rs 5.09 lakh and is available in four trims – Ambiente, Trend, Titanium, and Titanium+. You can buy the Freestyle with the option of a petrol and a diesel engine and prices range between Rs 5.09 lakh and Rs 6.94 lakh for the petrol and Rs 6.09  to 7.89 lakh for the diesel. The new 1.2-litre three-cylinder Dragon petrol engine makes 96hp and 120Nm and is currently the most powerful petrol in its segment. The diesel Freestyle uses the same 1.5-litre, four-cylinder TDCi engine that produces 100hp and 215Nm.

The car is fitted with a new Getrag-sourced five-speed manual gearbox for both engines. Ford claims the new unit is more refined and lighter, and it uses 40 percent less gear oil.

The car’s ride height (in comparison to the Figo it is based on) has been raised by 16mm to 190mm (unladen) and it also gets larger 15-inch alloys. There are also off-road bits like body cladding, skid plates and functional roof rails. On the inside, the dash has been tweaked to fit a new 6.5-inch touchscreen and has a chocolate brown and black colour theme.
