Ather Energy has launched the 450 Apex limited edition electric scooter in India. The two-wheeler manufacturer is celebrating its 10-year anniversary in the scooter segment by unveiling the all-new 450 Apex in the domestic market. Ather has already commenced bookings for the 450 Apex, and deliveries will start in March 2024. Also, the scooter will arrive in Ather showrooms next month. The new 450 Apex is available at a premium price of INR 1.89 lakh (ex-showroom). The scooter does not come with the FAME II subsidy. The auto giant has unveiled the new Magic Twist feature, which includes negative throttle for regenerative braking. For more seamless braking, the negative throttle can be molded in the opposite direction of up to 15 degrees, allowing good speed modulation and promising lesser pressure on the brakes at daily riding speeds. The 450 Apex comes with a claimed range of 157 km.
Ather has not made any dimensional changes to the electric scooter. However, it has a special paint that gives it a distinguished look. It gets a new indium blue color with shiny orange highlights. The orange color scheme has been expanded to the ‘Ather’ branding, alloy wheels, and chassis. The e-scooter gets a blue transparent side panel that gives it a bolder look. It comes with the same touchscreen dashboard along with additional graphics for the new Warp+ mode. The 450 Apex gets the same aluminum and steel chassis, a monoshock at the back, and telescopic front forks. It comes with the same braking system with disc brakes at the end.
The Ather 450 Apex is powered by a PMS electric motor that churns out 7 kW (9.3 bhp) and a peak torque of 26 Nm. In comparison to the Warp mode available in the 450X scooter, the new 450 Apex gets a new Warp+ mode, which brings additional power to the electric scooter.
The Ather 450 Apex comes with a top speed of 100 kmph in place of 90 kmph, whereas in 2.9 seconds, the scooter can go up to 0–40 kmph, which makes it 0.4 seconds faster than the outgoing 450X. The Bengaluru-based EV scooter startup stated that initial acceleration has improved by 13 percent, whereas acceleration between 40 and 80 kmph has increased by 30 percent.
