Yamaha had filed a trademark for ‘FZ-X’ a few weeks ago thus hinting at the launch of an ADV in the Indian market

There have been speculations that Yamaha Motor India will be launching an adventure bike in the country. The company had registered a new trademark named ‘FZ-X’ a few weeks ago. This new bike might be based on the brand’s 250cc platform that also underpins the FZ25 and FZS-25. Recently, the motorcycle has been digitally imagined as an ADV. The rendered image surfaced on social media courtesy of ‘D by Akash’. It gives us a fair idea of how the bike will look like. The designer has taken FS25 as the donor model and has slightly tweaked it to make it look like an ADV.

Design-wise, the bike takes inspiration from the Yamaha Tracer series of motorcycles. Upfront, the motorcycle is seen with a slightly different headlight cluster along with a windscreen above it. Furthermore, it gets raked-up split seats that have been borrowed from the naked street twins. The fuel tank and tank shrouds have been retained from the FZ25 and FZS-25. From the image, we can also see the presence of dual side-bolted grab rails for pillion convenience instead of the single-point fixed grab rails. The other major change observed is the use of wire-spoke wheels in the place of alloy wheels.

Besides these, the two-wheeler gets a new belly pan along with knuckle protectors around the handlebar. Other design bits as seen in the image include a new upswept exhaust pipe, a shortened fender, a new rack to load up luggage, and a flatter number plate mount. If we talk about the tyres, the rear one is much knobbier than the front one.

Performance-wise, the bike is expected to get the same 249cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine as seen on the naked streetfighters. This unit dishes out 20.6 bhp power and 20 Nm peak torque while being mated to a 5-speed gearbox. Talking about the cycle parts, they are likely to remain the same. However, they might be slightly tweaked for better performance.
